Ron.C. - the `Captain Class' frigates were all welded using (in my opinion, having served one one)the thinnest of steel, and were built upside down, so that they were rolled over on launch, keel down...buckling in heavy seas. We in tyhe 1st Escort Group, Escorted the Manxman on a minelaying expedition and wound up with cracks athwartships due to the vibrations of our engines going the mxa. speed we could muster in an effort to keep up !
