i read your post and found it very interesting. My grandfather was a petty officer on HMS Zephyr at the time and I have many photo's taken by him on this ship and others he served on. I am however trying to get any information on the U-Boat that hms zephyr took the surrender of on the last day of the war as I have a few items from it, like the commanders ceremonial sword, a officers foul weather gear and the u-boats battle ensign. My auntie has the u-boat beer glasses and the comanders iron cross.
The problem is I am finding it differcult to discover which u-boat they came from.
Any information would be appreciated.
