The correct assumption belongs to David, above. HMS Phoenix was sunk by the Italian SC Albatros in the Sicilian Channel on 16/7, after missing the oiler the SC was escorting. Her loss was not known to Malta's authorities until she was reported overdue.
It is my understanding the wreck has been located but, for obvious reasons, the location has not been made public, let the dead rest in peace.
