The correct name is FORT PEMBINA. It was a 7,134 ton merchant ship, managed by Billmeir. It was hired to carry motor vehicles.
For the landing in south of France - she loaded a cargo of 126 vehicles; 260 troops and 109 tonnes of stores at Taranto 4 - 7 August 1944; sailed from Taranto 10 August as part of convoy TF.1 - this consisted of several large ships which carried two Free French infantry divisions. Arrived 16 August and discharged her cargo.
