I was serving on the CMS HMS Leverton on Boxing Day 1955, & I remember the occasion well. Half of our crew were ashore but we were ordered to sea to look for survivors. It became obvious as soon as we slipped that we would be unable to assist the Ulysses as we too were victims of the weather. It took the Leverton over three hours to secure to our moorings. And that inside Sliema Creek!
