My Uncle, Engine Room Artificer Ronald George Cotton, was one of those killed when HMS Valentine was attacked by German aircraft in May 1940. I believe the ship was then beached and that the remains are still visible today. My uncle's body was not recovered and his only memorial is on the Royal Navy War Memorial in Plymouth, Devon. My Uncle's daughter, his only child, has a copy of the Royal Navy Enquiry into the loss of the ship and I have seen this.
