Carpathia

<HTML>I could be overlooking something, but I found no link to the names of ships sunk by U-boats. In his book Sea Hunters II, Clive Cussler dramatizes the sinking of the Carpathia, the ship that rescued the survivors of the Titanic. In his "story" he reports the U-boat as U-55, skippered by Gerhardt Werner. There is, in fact, a WWI U-55 listed in uboat.net, but it was skippered by Wilhelm Werner if my memory serves. Cussler also reports ..."One of the new types, five hundred feet in length." That's a BIG sub, especially for WWI. uboat.net reports the U51 type sub to be about 62m -- just under 200 feet.

Is there a cross reference that connects an allied shipping loss with the responsible U-boat?</HTML>
