<HTML>Frank,

The standard reference for finding oout which ship was sunk by which U-boat is the official German history by Admiral Arno Spindler ("der Handelskrieg mit U-Booten" portions of "Der Krieg Zur See" series.)

We are working on putting a data base of such sinking attribution on this site in the conning tower area. It is a large task - over 7,000 ships were sunk, damaged, or captured by U-boats in World War One. For now just ask questions in this forum.

Spinlder does attribute the sinking of the Carpathia to U 55 under the command of Kplt. Wilhelm Werner.

Best wishes,

Michael</HTML>
