There is no area that is more difficult to get a good handle on than the Black Sea. Certainly, U-boats sank some vessels there but not a lot in comparison to other areas (especially the Mediterranean).

It is very difficult though to figure out exactly how effective U-boats really were in the Black Sea. We do not have records of Rusians losses to compare the German sinking claims to.
