<HTML>Brian,
I think I found the answer. I was looking up Irene in Tennent's book when I noticed that Trinity House lost another steamer of over 500 grt during the war. You guessed it: she was named Alert, 777 grt, mined April 15, 1917 off Dover. The alert was built in 1911 and had no previous names.
Best wishes,
Michael</HTML>
