<HTML>On 15 August 1917 the trawlers 'G & E' and 'Ethel & Millie', carrying the false identies of 'Nelson' and 'Boy Alfred' were attacked by a surfaced u-boat and sunk in the North Sea; one of the trawler skippers, Tom Crisp was awarded a posthumous VC for the action.
