Thank you Michael, I will be piecing together "likely suspects" once the dates are narrowed down. The Allies were looking everywhere for U-boats, as two river outlets further east along the Macedonian coast were also investigated around the same time. I understand that the WW1 German records in the US National Archives have not been translated: if this is so, is an accesable English version in a private collection to your knowledge?
