Does anyone know if the USS San Diego had one of the early Marconi
telegraph radios? The reason is my father was a Navy Chief radio operator
in 1918 (when there were very few) and he once told me about taking a
message about a sinking Cruiser off Fire Island. I am now wondering if this
was the San Diego. Even stranger he had been working with the Associated Press
and had 'tipped' the director as to the event. He later worked for the AP.
