Hi all,

Thanks for the clarification. While it is clear there is no 1:1 correlation between the various ranks, I am getting a much better sense of who did what.

I have two follow-up questions: while on this boat Petz gave the order to fire, who actually pushed the button, so to speak? I am trying to describe this boat in action in my book, and I don't want to have the cook firing the torpedoes. :)

My second question: In U-85's KTB, Petz refers to encountering a 'Foxglove' and a 'Mystic' when attacking the California; are these code for something specific? I am thinking one Foxglove he refers to is the HMS Delphinium, an Arabis Class Sloop, who responded immediately after the sinking, and whose account of the sinking I got from Kew. I would be curious to hear your thoughts on this.

Thanks,

-Daniel
