It's that horrible old german handwriting, also Viebeg doesn't give to much details anyway,but here are the facts:

14.06.1917
to night-position off Cap Barfleur to use the last torpedo on board

15.06.1917
12.30h Den xxxconvoy auf dem Wege nach Le Havre in östlicher Richtung in Sicht. Überwasser Angriff auf einen etwa 5000 t großen, tiefbeladenen Dampfer
12.58h Torpedo geschossen, Treffer, Abstand 800 m, Schnelltauchen vor xxxxxxxxxx Sicherung
05.00h mit Hellwerden aufgetaucht

Means that at 00.30h UB 32 sighted the convoy bound Le Havre to the East, attacked an big, deeply loaden steamer of about 5000 tons

At 00.58h she fired her torpedo at 800 metres range, than dived before the escorts

At 05.00h resurfaced

In other words:

During the night she attacked an vessel thougth to be an steamer, hit the vessel and dived.

We now can assume that UB 32 hit something (maybe), also that this "convoy" could have been an loose group of escorted merchantmen, the loss of an escorting trawler with all hands might get unnoticed by the other vessels.

Also, the estimated size of the steamer of 5000 tons isn't an argument against.

The norwegian VINAES, sunk by UB 32 on 08.06.1917 out of an convoy during dark hours, was estimated to be 6000 tons - she had 1107 tons !!!

All this pure guesswork, I know, but now we have to wait for additional details from the british archives...
