I was told this story in the mid 1950's by my cousin's husband who was the local policeman. He was told the story by local people years before that. The story is that it happened in both world wars, u boat commanders in the Second World War had visited in the First World War as crew and therefore knew the cove. I feel it could have happened in the first but not sure about Second World War.
