HI Guys,

HMS PERTH commissioned at Dundee on 23 Oct.'15 as an Armed Boarding Steamer
with three 4.7 inch guns.

"On October 1st he attacked a convoy in the Bay of Biscay, damaging 2 vessels,
SS MANIN and SS BYLANDS by gunfire, and then engaged the escorting vessel HMS
PERTH which he hit and damaged before submerging. The convoy then reformed, but
both the damaged vessels dropped astern unable to keep up speed. When the rest
of the convoy was about a mile distant, U139 again emerged and sank BYLANDS by
gunfire. The MANIN was making water badly and was now abandoned by her crew,
where upon the submarine finished her off by a torpedo."

Naval-History.Net confirms the loss of two Royal Navy Personnel on 1 Oct.'18.

Respectfully submitted,
