Hi all,

in fact, U 139 was engaged by HMS PERTH thrice that day:

13:15h-13:30h after surfacing behind the convoi H.G. 109, U 139 was fired at by some steamers out of the convoy (f.e. HERSCHEL and AUSTRIAN) and also by HMS PERTH
than PERTH was damaged by one hit, resulting in the death of S-Lt. Stevenson and 2 wounded

16:00h-16:10h again U 139 had an longrange fight with some steamers of the convoy, including HERSCHEL, AUSTRIAN and FOTINIA and also PERTH fired 8 shots

17:20h-17:30h HMS PERTH again was damaged by one hit from U 139 during an engagement, resulting in the death of Ass.Paym. Maile, after 83 shots from PERTH U 139 dived
