Hi all,
This is my first post in your forums, but I have been a reader for several years.
I have been doing some research on a couple of WW1 U-boats and have come up against a problem I can’t get past.
Can anyone explain what the abbreviation Masch.D.S.I. stands for?
It was the job description of Willy DRAHT who died on UB109 and is commemorated on the U-boat Memorial at Möltenort
I wonder if the first part is related to Maschinenmaat, which I understand to be an Engineering Branch Petty Officer, but the DSI has me stumped.
best regards
Jim
