Got a question: What do you know about the 308 grt LUIGINA? UC 35's KTB doesn't mention a name for the sailing ship sunk on November 23. Spindler doesn't provide one either. We got the name and tonnage from "Lloyd's War Losses: The First World War,” where the 308 grt LUIGINA is listed as a missing vessel. It seems the most likely answer for what UC 35 but we didn't know at the time about ESPERO's disappearance.

LWL is a good but not perfect source. The other possibility — which I now think is the more likely answer — is that UC 35 sank ESPERO and the LUIGINA of 34 grt goes missing in November 1917. It's that ship that LWL is referring to but they got the tonnage wrong. In other words, there was no LUIGINA of 308 grt.

That is unless there's some additional evidence to establish the existence and disappearance of a 308 grt sailing vessel named LUIGINA…
