Other causes of loss
Grieger " ...U-30 either struck an Italian anti-submarine mine, which had been laid near the coast east of cape Otranto, or that she sank as a result of improper repair work on her previous damage."
Thierry: from his fathers logbook for 1917 "She probably sank in the Barrage at Otranto with all hands."
I hope this is of some iterest ect. We will probably not know what really happened to the U-30 until someone finds the wreck.
