The records of the Merchant Navy are held at Cardiff, so you should be able to trace your grandfathers ships and narrow down your search by the dates of signing on/off each ship. If you send me your Email and postal address I will see what I can do when I go to our next MN meeting on Tues 28th Nov about getting the secretary to contact his shipmate down at Cardiff.
