<HTML>Hi Adam
I didn´t understand why most of people from this forum got disappointed after viewing U-571.
I wondered what did they expect from an american movie?
Now I don´t understand why you have got surprised by statements from its director.
There are a proverbial ignorance about history and lack of culture from Holywood people. And they are even daring, making pseudo-historic statements. You know ... \"ignorance is bold\".
But I wouldn´t be worried about, and think even it´s worthless to discuss Mostow´s
\"knowledge\" about history. In this case the key is not what it have been said, but who have said it.
Mostow?... Who is Mostow?
If an opus/movie portrays its author/director, Mostow bas been perfectly portrayed by U-571.
And evidently from his statements, he is another uncultured, a daring uncultured.
Are u-boat men voluntary?
Regarding this subject, Martin Middlebrook in his book titled \"CONVOY:The battle for convoys SC.122 and HX.229\", has an interesting point of view.
Have a look to its chapter 3: The Germans.
Best regards
