<HTML>LT. Koontz,
The Mona Passage is the strait between Puerto Rico and Hispaniola
(the island with the Dominican Republic and Haiti on it). A quick look at the Caribbean map on this web site (http://www.uboat.net/maps/caribbean.htm) shows no U-boats sunk in this area, so it would seem that the attack did not succeed. I suppose it might be possible to trace the identity of the U-boat involved, but having some additional information, such as the exact date or the name/number of the patrol boat to go on would be extremeley helpful.
Best wishes,
Michael</HTML>
