I was reading about Freetown bound convoy OS44. This slow convoy was attacked by U107 under Gelhaus on 13 March 1943. He surfaced between the escorts and the convoy, fired his four bow torpedoes, turned around and fired his two stern torpedoes. He reported that he sank three ships but he was too modest. He sank the Dutch Sembilangan, loaded with ammunition, and the british vessels, Clan Alpine, Marcella and Oporto.</HTML>
