<HTML>After looking at the pictures I think she is a type IXC and according to Fritz Köhl's book Vom original model type IXC the hand rail pattern would mean that this boat was made by DEUTSCHE WERFT AG HAMBURG and with the lot numbers of u-518-550 , 1221-1235 . Type 9's that had the olympic rings in this lot would be the u-546 , 534 , 1230 , 528 , 531 , 1224 .To me the drainage hole pattern looks like :
2 ,2, 4 ,6, 1, 7, 1/2 ,4 ,1, 7, 1/4-1/2 ,2 , according to Köhl's book ( page 26 ) this would give the following type 9 lot numbers :
u-183-194 , 533-550 , 841-846 , 853-858 , 865-870 , 877-881 , 889 , 1221-1235 . If you put this all together the possible choices are : u-534 , 546 . This should hold true if I am looking at the hand rail correctly , the top horizontal rail is NOT the same height from front to back but at the 6th stanchion it RAISES UP slightly all the way back to the last stachion . Also the reading of the drainage slots are important , before the last 2 normal sized slots are 2 smaller ones they could be concidered either a 1/2-1/2 slot or a 1/4-1/2 slot , to me it looks like the 1/4-1/2 hole . Please see Fritz Köhl 's book "VOM ORIGINAL ZUM MODELL: UBOOTTYP IXC pages 17 and 26 to see the charts that I used in this posting .</HTML>
