<HTML>Left container has nothing to do with housing gun barrels. Contained the "Marcks-Rettungsboje" (rescue buoy) which was however fitted only during work-up period in the Baltic except the early month of the war. Reserve gun barrels were fixed in the conning tower. See my booklet "Uboottyp VIIC - Vom U-boot zum Modell", page 17 and 21.
