sorry, what you are showing on the pics above is the signal buoy carried before the war. Has nothing to do with the Marcks-rescue buoy. According to the "Bauvorschrift für den Schiffskörper der Unterseeboote Typ VII C" (construction manual for shiphull U-boat Type VIIC), section SII Gruppe 15 - Sicherheitseinrichtungen, issued by the construction office of the KM to the building yards, the two pressure proof containers were installed in the upperdeck midships at frame 62,3 and on the port side at frame 72,.

Propose you visit the Military Archive at Freiburg/Germany for a couple weeks to check the plans and manuals there to find out yourself.
