<HTML> DON, DE 764 ,GANDY, and DE 763, CATES, and DE 766, SLATER ,(CANNON CLASS ) all had intresting backgrounds , all had humble TAMPA ,shipyard beginnings , all three hunted U-boats and all went to GREEN COVE , after the war, GANDY went to Italy, CATES went to France and SLATER went to Greece, SLATER was also in a movie," THE GUNS OF " (maybe some researcher would like to share that puzzle with us ) ,currently SLATER is on display in New York , and is being refitted and preserved, by DESA, DESTROYER ESCORT SAILORS ASSN. Thay also have a web site, My father served on CATES as MMC.</HTML>
