Hello all,
I am new to this forum so I apologize in advance for what I am certain will be a silly question.
My girlfriends grandfather (Heinz Mischke) was part of U69, U514 and U270 before being captured and sent to Canada as a POW. The reason why I am asking these questions is because the first 2 boats were sunk with all hands lost.
I am wondering, why he would he have been on 3 different boats? Was this common for Ober.F.z.See to be stationed on multiple boats?
Again, I apologize for my odd question. Just looking for some answers.
Thanks!
