UD-2

<HTML>The UD-2 was the former Dutch submarine O-12, captured by German forces in Den Helder in May 1940. According to information I have, she was commissioned in January 1943 and attached to the U-Abwehrschule in Bergen as piggy boat.

One Dutch source mentions however that she was attached to the 10th flotilla at one time, and even made a patrol off West Africa during 1943.

Is this true ? I mean, the possibility seems highly unlikely to me. It was a rather old boat, which the Kriegsmarine really didn't need as front boat with so many type VII and IX in servie. Or was it a weather patrol ? More information is appreciated.

TIA,
