<HTML>Hi John,
Merry Xmas for you and yours.
It's difficult for me to imagine a Xmas tree in the mainmast of a submarine. Perhaps on the top of her periscope (HI).
But I know, in german and dutch countries, Xmas tree were stand by near and on the window. So in german navy, this tradition is also.
Have a mind to sailors, submariners and all others, rolling and pitching at anchor. By the time, only soviet subs anchored a long time far from shore. The others stay under water.
Regards</HTML>
