<HTML>Evening all,
Christmas can bring back many memories depending on where you were. Xmas 1952 0100 25th Dec waiting on a Korean beach for pick up by HM Royal Marines after a "Jaunt Ashore" and transport back to an 8th D.F. ship for a hot breakfast (the first in 18days) of Eggs (3 off) Bacon Bangers and fried bread.
Served by the Number One and the P.O.Cook with as much Bubbly as we wanted (to stave off frostbite you know) wink wink. I thank the good Lord for the promptness of our pick ups under very difficult circumstances but as others have said the civility from the wardroom and the banter that accompanied it was the thing that triggered the Christmas Spirit.By the way our Xmas tree was made by the ERA from a piece steel cable untwisted and bedecked with everthing from empty fag packets to condoms blown up on an Oxygen bottle.(its amazing how big they stretch to.(anybody beat five foot?)
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all the Listers.
Don't Forget its Neaters On Christmas Day unless you have Watch before the
Middle.
God Bless You All
Ted & Janet in Snowy Scarborough</HTML>
