<HTML>I'm new here and am not sure if this question has been asked before (actually, it must have!):

Does anyone have the total for the amount (tonnage) of Allied military and merchant shipping lost to German u-boats between the start of war in September 1939 and the invasion of Crete in May 1941 (or to the end of April 1941)? I've attempted to calculate the total and have come up with a figure somewhere around 3 million tons (GRT) sunk. How far off am I? Please be gentle...
