Thing that struck me was not only that it was in color, but in such clear, high quality pictures. It really felt like these pictures were contemporary. The guys all looked so lifelike, so real - the grainy B&W film we are usually left with from WWII tends to put a bit of distance emotionally from the participants.
I had to keep reminding myself that the young eager faces in the photo's were all either dead (from old age) or extremely elderly by now.</HTML>
