If someone with little previous knowledge, or even with quite a lot of knowledge, asked me to recommend a book on the WW2 U-boat war I would recommend Clay Blairs "Hitler's U-Boat War"
Vol: 1 The Hunters 1939-1942
Vol: 2 The Hunted 1942-1945
Very well written and very accurate (unlike some) and for a work of these proportions must have been a great undertaking. I also like the way it is written in a day-to-day style. Worth the money. If readers find mistakes in these books please post on U-boat.net and notify the publishers/author this will help us all. I know if I had spent so much time and effort in such a work I would be most upset to find any mistakes/omissions and would be exceedingly grateful to have them pointed out.
Another 'must have' book - can it ever be bettered? Now theres a challenge...
