CO's who have been submariners are generally far better CO's in terms of crew relations / welfare than the Ruperts who do Dartmouth and come aboard with huge expectations!
Same goes for those who have been Pilots in the Fleet Air Arm.
However, overall, RN officers are a hardy bunch for whom professionalism is a by word and excellence the goal. As for Engineer officers being largely Scots...too much Star Trek, Mr. Mc Daniel! :-)
