<HTML>This looks like the site I've been looking for ..... thanks for your help.

My uncle was a baker on a troop ship USS Mt. Vernon in ww1. She was hit by a torpedo returning from France. She limped back to France .... patched with a concrete patch and returned to the US for permenant repair. Returned to duty for several more trips.
