Yes read them all years ago - great books by a great author. Raiders of the Deep is still in print in the US.
The Lauterbach you mention was Julius Lauterbach a naval reserve officer who served on SMS Emden and was granted, along with the rest of the crew, permission by the Kaiser to use the name Emden after their family name thus the U-boot commander Kptlt Hans-Juergen Lauterbach-Emden, U539, is a descendent of \"Lauterbach of the China Seas\"
