U1023 which surrenders at Weymouh arrived in Swansea 0n 20th June 1943 where she was open to the public for 3 days.
I WAS 6 YEARS old but I remember my father taking me to see it .The interior was from my young mind covered on all interior surfaces with oil and my father was concerned that I did not spoil my clothes which were rationed.
Some 40/60 subs made their final destination to LondonDerry on Lough Foyle for scrapping but I believe U 1023 was later taken to the Western Approaches and scuttled.
