Hi Torstein!
I saw the Murmansk Convoy program on NRK 1.
It was very interesting, and I am looking forward to final episode on monday 22:00.
Regarding Uboats in contact with PQ-17 survivors;Blair mentions 3 Uboats:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
U-703,(CO Heinz Bielfeld),sank British 6 600 ton Freighter EMPIRE BYRON in
76*18´N-33*30´E at 08:27 on 5 July,and British 5 500 ton Freighter RIVER AFTON in 75*57´N-43*00´E at 21:02 on 5 July.
Bielfeld captured a British Army officer from EMPIRE BYRON,
and the Captain of RIVER AFTON,
and gave the survivors in lifeboats food and water.
U-334,(CO Hilmar Siemon),sank British 7 200 ton Freighter EARLSTON,
in 74*54´N-37*40´E at 17:47 on 5 July, and captured her Captain.
U-456,(CO Max-Martin Teichert),sank US 7 000 ton Freighter HONOMU,
in 75*05´N-38*00´E at 14:31 on 5 July, and captured her Captain.
Rohwer:Axis Submarine Successes of WW II.
Best regards/Anders.
