<HTML>As you can see from this post, this is my point exactly. Anyone who is remotely aquainted with celestial navigation could take \"side by side\" sightings with the \"faked\" sextant and compare to a current model. I have a German made Freiberger and I know I could identify the authenticity of the instrument in question so far as a navigators tool in minutes. Now I do agree that the markings could be altered and markings can be added...but you are also talking about a sextant model that hasn\'t been made since the 40\'s. Not to add fuel to this argument, but this is not as simple as ringing up the Plath Plant and asking for a crate of 40\'s era sextants oh and by the way, could you scuff them up a bit, my brother the tool and die man is making some fake Kreigsmarine sextants for the collecters market. I feel and have always felt there are a few, very rare sextants that are floating around that are the \"real deal\". Most sextants by nature are kept in wooden boxes and they have a \"wow\" factor for those not inclined to take celestial sightings. Therefore easy to take as one\'s own and then sit in a closet for years. Who\'s to say that someone doesn\'t have Hitler\'s reading glasses sitting on a dusty shelf because he was the third G.I. in to the bunker. If the widow ever tried to sell them on eBay or elsewhere, there would be a storm of people decrying their authenticity. Just a thought.</HTML>
