Hi Rene

During WWI, HMS D6 was patrolling off Inistrahull Lighthouse on 28 June 1918, when her port engine broke down, so she had to travel slow ahead on her starboard motor. D6 was on the surface and 12-nautical miles north of Inishtrahull Light, when Kplt. Neureuther in UB 73 sighted her and fired a torpedo from 80-yards, which struck the British submarine and the boat sank. Eight men succeeded in evacuating the boat, but only Lt. Bell and Lt. Brookes survived to be picked up, the rest having died of exposure.

Maybe not WWII however.

Cheers Ron
