Nothing about the escorts, but OG-63 sailed Liverpool 25/05 and arrived Gib 7/06. 39 ships of which 3(as stated) were lost. First sighted on the 5/06 by It Velella (Lt Cdr Terra) which brought up Marconi (Lt Cdr Pollina. During night 5/6th Marconi claimed 4 hits and Velella 2 hits. Later on 6th It Emo (Lt Cdr Roselli-Lorenzini) claimed 2 hits, but only Marconi was successful. The Glen Head was sighted by a FW Condor (as stated) Glen Head was in the sixth of seven columns, the A/C flew direct & as it flew over dropped three bombs as well as machine gunning, 2 bombs were near misses while the third hit No 5 hatch. The crew had little time to return fire & only the 'Hotchkiss' gun was used, not any of the 12-pounder, " Marlins M.Guns, 2 Lewises. The bomb penetrated & detonated the magazine the resulting explosion shattered the aft part of the ship which sank quickly by the stern with 27 of the 36 crew dying.
