<HTML>Eric-Jan:
Here is some additional information re U-608 (ref. Blair, pg.608):
On afternoon of Aug 9, 1944, U-608/Wolfgang Reisner was discovered by a B-24 Liberator of British Squadron 53 of 19 Group in the Bay of Biscay submerged and trailing an oil slick. The Liberator pilot dropped six depth charges and a dye marker. Sloops Starling and Wren and frigate Loch Killin from Support Group 2 arrived at the scene about an hour and a half later accompanied by a Sunderland flying boat. The ships were unable to establish a sonar contact. Starling and the Sunderland departed leaving Wren and Killin to continue the search. Wren detected U-608 about 10:00pm that evening and launched a depth charge attack which severely damaged U-608. Reisner surfaced and scuttled. Wren rescued all fifty-one crewmen from the sub.

Hope this is helpful to you,
