SURCOUF had two screws (propellors), each driven by a 3800 horsepower diesel with a 490 kw generator, driving twin electric 850 horsepower electric motors. (Four motors, two on each shaft)

The starboard shaft was positioned slightly forward of the port shaft. Go to: [www.navyplan.com] and you can see for youself. Click on each photo......
