About U-571 don\'t bother, ok watch it just \'cause it is a sub movie, but don\'t pay any attention to the historical and other techical features of the film, like Rainer Bruns allready told you, go to the movie forum where the movie was \"torpedoed\" most succesfully :-).
Another good book in German language is \"Bis zur letzten Stunde- Der U-Boot Krieg 1939-1945\" written by a U-boat veteran, Georg Ernst, Bechtermunz Verlag, ISBN 3-8289-0345-2.
It is the true story of a young U-boat sailor at the final stages of the war who wanted to given an account on the U-boat war not from the commanders view, but from the \"fussvolk\" side, the plain sailors.
By the way, nice to have another lady on the forum, welcome to the fascinating world of U-Boat net:-)
