<HTML>Hi all -
Can I just endorse what Lawrence has said about the `Daily Mail` pictures ? Yes, the pictures were offered to the U-boat Archiv; in the absence of a `yes` reply I made arrangements for them to go to the RN Sub Museum, who had responded very speedily and enthusiastically to an email.
I did in all fairness get a very nice note from Jak M-S eventually (some ten weeks after the initial enquiry), on behalf of the Archiv, suggesting that I go there and have a look at U-564`s file. I still intend doing this in due course. It is perfectly possible that there is already a full set of the photos in the Archive, though Jak M-S had no idea; whatever the case, a set of copies is currently being prepared for them by the Sub Museum, which I hope to let them have when I visit later this year.
If you`re interested, do contact the RN Sub Museum and ask to make arrangements to look at the original photos - all 400-odd of them. Try their website [www.rnsubmus.co.uk]
for contact telephone numbers / email contact. If anyone has specific questions or comments about the photos, I`ll do my best to answer them if you email me direct.
Can I also thank members of this forum for all the help given in sorting out the context of the photos ? Without u-boat.net, its goodwill and corporate knowledge it would have taken infinitely longer.
Best wishes to all
Frank
