The whole premise just doesn't pass a sanity check, even though I have zero qualifications to state this.

U-Boat pens exist for launch-new, repair, re-fuel, re-manning, and safe protection from air attack while all of the above are happening. right?

None of that is easy to do on a remote island.

It just wasn't a strategically convenient place to put it. Too far from the enemy, and wasting too much fuel and time, to get too little of use.

Oh, but to get rid of all the Gold in the Reich, that's why we need an underground dock on Bear Island! It all makes perfect sense now! Because there are so many air raids at the Poles during a heated war between countries only 20 miles apart, that you must stay underground, under a mountain. I better stop before my sarcasm goes any further
