Richard,my father seved on the Albatross normandy invasion 1944.He is still alive.
The Albatross was hit not by a Dackel Torpedo but what is known as a Human or Manned Torpedo.If you google this it will give you a description of the weapon.
The German Frogman was spotted in the water after the torpedo hit the ship shouting for help.
